I have a break barrel 177cal but was thinking of a semi auto and was wondering what a decent one to buy was. Probably something not too big as I might have my daughter use it for target practice.

What features are you looking for? Accuracy, realism, ease of use, blowback?

If it's for your daughter , hands down the most fun and least accurate is the ppk, but ppk's have this nefarious problem of becoming jammed after 500 shots, some metal inside between the valve and slide changes with use. You need to either find a good one used that doesn't jam or take a chance with a new one.

But yeah, tell me what you are looking for most importantly.

Thanks for all the replys. How much is the 1911 and how accurate is it? I think accuracy will be the deciding factor, but a good looking pistol is a bonus.

Had the 1911 , sights were not lined up in elev..had to add some front.
The gun feels nice though, and works fine.
I like Beretta, and have 2x 92 fs, both are great shooters. Rapid fire at 10 m, can hold on a 2 dollar coin , bullseye shooting , a dime size is poss.
These Beretta pistols are bulky a bit in the grip area, more so with the wood grips, so maybe not great for a gal. the cp-88 is tiny.

I have a nickle 1911 and it is one of the best airguns I have ever shot.

They aren't cheap, but keep in mind they are metal, not plastic. Depending on where you buy it, the black 1911 is around $240, and the nickle plated is around $260.

You could also try the Canadian Airgun Forum. They have a dealer section, and a buy and sell section. That's where I got mine used.

I would recommend the Makarov by Umarex. Its a BB pistol, all metal (except for grips, accurate, powerful for a 4 inch barrel (380fps) and smaller grips for your daughters hands. I find it the most accurate BB pistol I have ever shot. If you want a pellet gun....I'm not sure, there are so many good pistols, however, the 1911, 92fs, CP88 (umarex line) may be too big and heavy for her to hold properly/comfortably.

I have both Umarex/Walther CP99 Nickel and CP99 Compact Blowback, and both serves me well.......

The full size CP99 is very well made and acceptably accurate, while the Compact is more fun to shoot due to the blowback function but it's less well made(metal components are made of cast pot metal) and the slide lock fails to function as the slide catch worns out......

BTW have anyone tried the new H&K P30 CO2 yet? Looks like it used the improved version of the CP99 actions, with the added ability to shot BB's:

I like the Walther CP-99. It is accurate enough to teach technique or to practice with, relatively cheap and quiet. The interchangeable grips help it to feel the same as the 9mm or .22 handgun it imitates and it is a fun little pistol to shoot. Don't know if I would want to take squirrels with it or anything, but it is a good little shooter.

I find that the CP-99 tends to be fussy about pellets though - cheaper ones with narrow skirts can slip through the little cylinder/loader and jam up the gun. Best results so far are either Crosman Premier or a SCHaK brand; the latter are a Czech import for my Pardini competition pistol and so incredibly expensive they are almost out of the question for shooting.
