What's a S&W 625 classic in 45LC go for?

These .45 Colt 625's are rather scarce. S&W made 1550 model 625-5 in .45 Colt back in 1993 as a Stocking Dealer Special edition limited run. Serial numbers had the SDS###x prefix. I've seen a few listed on Gunbroker in the last few years and prices of the sold guns were anywhere between the low $2k's to about $3k depending on how badly the buyer wanted it.

I've owned 4 of these in the last 20 or so years and still have one in the safe. I've sold a couple in the last 2-3 yrs on the EE, one was NIB with papers and tools and went for $2k within minutes of listing it, the other was in box with papers but no tools and about 200-250 rounds fired, sold for $1800.

I may sell the one I have left. Let me know if interested.

I didn't realize the 625's were worth that much more than the Model 25's.

I would say that to the correct buyer you're bang on, but I'm thinking that the 5" 625 would have broader appeal and could sell faster and for more cash, at least on the EE.

Are you talking about the .45 ACP or the .45 Colt version, both are stainless 5" barrel & full underlug. Only difference is that the .45 Colt dash 5 was made as a limited run of 1550 in 1993 only while the ACP was introduced in 1989 as the model of 1988 and still made today.

Yes, I was thinking that a more common 5" .45ACP Model 625 could sell faster on the EE and maybe for more cash than the rarer 625-5 in .45 Colt since the 625 would have broader appeal.

That would be my impression as well. Higher demand for the acp version and should more easily fetch a higher dollar on EE
