What's a swastika doing on an SVT-40?

After war SVT-40 was a basis for FN FAL.

Not really, pretty much no similarities except for the tilting bolt which most semi autos of the time had. The FN-FAL is a direct decendant of the FN-49 which was actually mostly designed before WWII.

2 years ago I had a chance to look through at least 8 crates that were still unopened at lever arms, crates still had lead seals unbroken since they left Soldar storage in the Donbass. I found rifle with waffen stamp on the side of the receiver. However that stamp looked bit different then the one on the photo. It was exactly the same shape as the stamps we find on K 98 rifles

Seeing as all mags had to be pinned before arriving in Canada, I would assume there were no such things as unopened crates of SVT-40 or SKS rifles.

Except for one dealer who forgot to pin them some time ago (CFO did find out and all guns had to be returned and pinned).

What is so hard to imagine, they would open the crate at military storage magazines got pined and the crate was resealed by military storage supervisor. The seals on the crates was still present in same condition as they left the Donbass. Keep in mind that all rifles in storage were unpacked and checked every 5 years per regulation any way. Nothing was left forgotten for years that is only the legend that is being sold to hungry for treasure gun collectors

And about "pulling out of the crate" - some German dealers asked to make fake notches and they got them (and later they ended up in Canada). Some Ukrainian dealers asked for early PPShs with tangent sights and they got them. Anything for your money. Even Martian capture Svts.
