What would one be worth, in factory condition, almost never used? Like this . . .

The Winchester 490 was made for the USA market and sold also as the Sears 6C (only States side). The Sears 6C sold in Canada was the Cooey 64.. The 490 is a great gopher gun and seems to eat all ammo put thru it. I bought one not long ago for $200, I got the gun( like brand new..no marks) one 5 shot mag, 2 - 10 shot mags, NIB 4x scope, and a Flambo hard case. The mags are very hard to find as I can attest to.

I sold one on EE last year. It was in very good conditon, but with some bluing wear and a few bumps, i.e. not as good as yours. It sold for around 250 shipped, without extra mags or acc. I've seen others list them since them for alot for higher and then have to drop the price. Frankly, I expected higher interest in the gun than I got.
So, you can probably expect to get $300 plus shipping from the right buyer. Maybe a little more if you can wait. If you want to move it quicker, start at 250 plus shipping.

Sounds like Winnipeg Toymaker got a great deal on that one.

By the way, I had no issues with the gun itself, but ended up preferring my 10/22 for lighter weight, easier to clean and similar accuracy. In it's day, the 490 was introduced as a high end .22 made on new CNC machines to tighter tolerances. It was meant to compliment their high power semi-auto, since it shared similar dimension, etc. So, a shooter could practice in the off season.

If you like more heft, good walnut and steel (but no upgrade potential), it beats a 10/22.

G man

The later rifles in the 490 Wins like the one in the photo came with not very nice wood compared to earlier production pieces that came with fairly nice piece of Walnut. I have had 3 of the older versions, all shot well, not what you would call tack drivers, but reliable semi auto 22's. Another nice feature of this rifle is that it has the feel of a full sized rifle, unlike most any other semi autos currently being produced
I'd value this rifle in the $300.00 range. FS

This quote sounds about right FS.
I have owned a 490 since I was 15! It was used a little bit in Ontario at my second army posting, but got a real workout in Moose Jaw at my first airforce posting. I used it for many years before I finally relented and purchased a Ruger carbine.
My thoughts on this rifle, mine seemed a lttle more accurate than the Ruger, BUT the Ruger could easily digest 3 for 4 times as much ammo before jamming due to carbon build up. I often loaned this rifle to new shooters to shoot gophers/rabbits with, and no-one complained about lack of accuracy or reliability, etc. It has the same steel Weaver K4 Challenger scope on it, from years ago.
This almost all steel/wood rifle was totally built in Cobourg, Ontario. The first 490s had issues with the trigger firing "out of battery" and were recalled by the factory for repair. Alot of internal parts for the trigger mechanism swap out with the Cooey Model 64.
(same bolt, same internal trigger & sear) Those with the factory repair have an asterisk star next to the serial number. It has an odd barrel twist of 1 in 14.5 inches IIRC. (does not matter, to most of us)

By the sounds of it, I did get a great deal. i still have the original thread and I bought it here in the 'Peg. The extra mags I wanted to have were found after a long search and they proved to be expensive, but whatcha gunna do. But I may look for another 490 to have for parts. USA dealers will not ship many parts.
And the gophers are thick again this year, I hope the 490 can take the heavy rapid shooting.
