Hi Guys,

I was just browsing the Wolverine site, and noticed they describe an Armalite AR180B-2...is this the latest version? Does anyone here know what has changed with this newer variant?

Thanks, Jeff/1911.

The other version they sell is restricted due to the fact that the flash hider is removable and not integral to the barrel.

As mentioned, with the sunset of the Assualt Weapons Ban south of the border, Armalite came out with an AR180B with a threaded barrel. Threading the barrel made it restricted. Luckily, they still make the version with the integral muzzle brake for Commie states like California and Canada.

The AR180B-2 is the old AR180B we're all used to up here.

Just so someone doesn't think a threaded barrel makes a gun restricted.......

The new profile Armalite barrel is less than 18.5 inches. That is why it is restricted. As the flash hider is a seperate part, it isn't counted towards the barrel length as the older integral flash hider was.

The legal definition of barrel length is from the closed bolt face to the end of the rifling. Both the AR180B and the AR180B-2 have 18.25" of rifling. The only reason the AR180B-2 is non-restricted is that the integral muzzle brake counts as barrel length.
