Whats available to hunt on Van Island or the lower mainland?

Well if you don't have a Hunting licence you will need this:

Then this:
http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/fw/wild/synopsis.htm
Which is a free download that will tell you everything you need to know as to what you can hunt, and when with what etc.

Go to Canadian tire or any sporting goods store and pick up a copy of the Hunting and Trapping reg's, read it frount to back, the seasons, species and bag limits are listed there.
Van isl has Black tail deer and some of the finest black bear anywhere.
Baggin a good size 3 or 4 point Is the goal, 2 points are common enough,
but consider a 4 point a island trofy, there pretty darn cagey by then.
I like my 30/06 single shot with 150 grain core lote.
Your 8mm should do nicly

Wow what a solid group of responses since making this post this morning. Thanks guys i'll check out all these links!
PS - Blacktail I don't know what CORE is yet but i imagine ill find out soon enough once i begin reading all this data you boys have garnished. I may get back to you on that one.
