What's different between Canada and the States?

Hey guys. This is my first post here. I'm an avid (note I said "avid" not "skillful") USPSA competitor and usually shoot at least three matches a month. I use a Para 16.40 for Limited and L10; a Para 18.9 LDA for Production; and a NightHawk 10-8 for Single Stack. :D

What are the primary differences between how our sport is run in Canada as opposed to the US? Do you guys have a blanket 10 rd. magazine law? If so, what do Open shooters do? :eek:

Do you guys still use the Millpark target or those horrible IPSC "turtle" targets?

Yes we do have a blanket 10 round limit

Our Open shooters just carry PLENTY OF MAGS like the rest of us and practise mag changes!

yes we use the turtle "targets". Yes we are all limited by law to 10 rounds pistol 5 rounds rifle. As for other differences I am not sure of as I have not done any cross border shooting.

There is avid action shooting in Canada. Enjoy it as much as you can now cause who knows what the future brings. We do not have second ammendment.
 
You'll need to download an IPSC rulebook to find out the small but probably significant differences between that and the USPSA rules.

You limited pistol is good to go in Standard, and max mag lenght is 140mm (not the egw gauge), but your rig if you were like the Open has to be change behind the hip bone, all else is good.

Your production pistol even if it's on the list is probably too modified for IPSC rules(??magwell, trigger work less then 5kg on the DA pull...I guess all the thing you can do to the pistol under USPSA is a no go under IPSC) :) and for the gear you can use a race holster same position as standard.

There is a bunch of difference with rules you just need to download read it completly....that is what I did before shooting under USPSA....I'm still learning the fine point under both rules....
 
Westicle - yeah and I understand you have 9 months of winter and 3 months when the skiing is poor! Hey, some of my best friends are Canadians! ;)

Yeah, I'm a Para fan and the only reason I don't use one in Single Stack is I got the NightHawk for an unbelieveable price.

BTW, from what I've heard Para is moving their production facilities down to North or South Carolina? :eek:
 
I know it must irritate a lot of you Canucks that Para is moving but I'm pretty sure (after all I live in NC) that NC and SC would provide a much more friendly atmosphere for a gun maker than Ontario, to say nothing of the tax structure?? :eek:

FN already has a major facility in SC where they manufacture machine guns, M16A2/M4 and pistols for the U.S. military and commercial markets.

I'm looking forward to driving down that way and having Thanos give me a tour of the facility once it's up an running. Hey, maybe he'll want me to test guns for him? :D
