seriously, I packed my shooting rest bunny ear bag & rear bag with lead shot. Yes it's heavy and a PITA to pack around, but man is it SOLID to shoot from.No movement what so ever when shooting.
For in the field use I would go with plastic beads.I'm sure Airsoft 6mm pelts would work well.
I also prefer plastic beads from crafts stores - lightweight for field use and no problems with incliment weather.
Rice/cornmeal will ruin your bag if it gets wet, and sand unless thoroughly dried, can freeze solid. These are great for the bench, but you won't find me carrying one in the field.
Corn cob tumbling media.... lots of it around the house. I might just look into the plastic beads approach just for weight and convenience. Thanks for the suggestion.
Took out the tumbling media, as it was a PITA to dry out ... couldn't find enuf plastic beads to stuff the rabbit ears at a reasonable price, so I went to fine aquarium gravel.
