Whats in your pack?

I'll sub out the whiskey for some plum raakia
And I'll add, satphone, camera, navigation aids
Dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, jerky, 2 liters H20 in a hydration pack.
And some paracording to make gutting easier.
Usually have a couple pens, small bottle muskol and some basic first aid items as well

My typical pack if going into bush has good knife, first aid kit, lighter and multi tool. skivy roll with plastic bags for dry feet if needed as well as a sweater if it is spring or fall. tp in zip lock bag which also has a pack of wet wipes. Trust me first time you forget tp or wet wipes will be the last time. Bug spray, have a small roll of para cord with a good carabiner (stuck it in there thinking I would never use it and surprisingly use it often), compass and range finder which doubles as binos. I also have a roll of sports tape. Its the 1" wide stuff they use to wrap up ankles. Also two garbage bags rolled up sometimes need to clean up after other useless humans. Small roll of flagging tape if I need to mark an area for what ever reason (again one of those things I thought I would never use but have pulled out a couple times)

If it is hunting season I also include appropriate game calls, licences, shooting sticks and cleaning kits (meat or gun) bottle of water for cleaning game and my camel pack(only one litre if local but fill full two litre if I am some where new). Extra dry ammo in zip lock bag. Extra strap for tree stand.

If my kids with me I bring extra dry clothes... their size and an extra couple ziplocks for "found treasures"

Always.... snacks... in quiet packaging. Nothing worse then a really loud wrapper in the quiet bush. Usually snacks are in same pocket as the thermos of the sweet heavenly nectar know as coffee.

I thought we were talking "day" pack hehehe
I also have a 3 to 4 day pack and an excursion pack , depending on the trip.

Light rain jacket, sweater and cheap Canadian Tire gloves that I don't mind getting grungy. Spare socks in ziplock bag. Pair of spare spectacles. Toque in season.

Survival kit

Dressing stuff - rubber gloves, string, sharpening stone, gutting knife, etc. Sometimes a hatchet, depending on mood. 550 cord. Paper towels. Small bottle of hand sanitizer.

Water bottle and food/snacks. Red Bull. Folding cup and tea bags.

Toilet paper in ziplock bag.

Cleaning kit, including cleaning rod. (Had a sling break on me one time and the barrel get plugged with mud. Bore snake would have been useless.)

Small flashlight, headlight and high-intensity glow stick.

Small ammo pouch permanently filled with three rounds for each of my favourite hunting rifles. (I may forget ammo when packing, but will always have a few rounds.)

Long bipod for setting up stands.

Good binoculars.

Depending on place and season, bug repellent.

Whether or not the pack is with me, a hunting vest with 4-5 rounds of ammo for rifle in question, GPS, cheap folding binoculars and range finder.

I carry my timberline hatchet, 2knives, flashlight, stone , flagging tape and spare ammo pouch on my gear belt so even if I put my pack down, I'm good to go ;)

I'm kinda like 45ACPKING. I have my gear spread out in different pockets, with some of the bulkier stuff in a small backpack.
Compass and a bic lighter on their own (light) strings around my neck.
ALWAYS carry my Geber multi tool on my belt, but I have another belt with a knife, and bone saw, and depending on the area a binocular pouch. Otherwise my big binos are on a strap around my neck. Also carry extra ammo in a custom loop pouch: about 6 rounds.
I've got one of those cheap tuna can Couglins survival kit permanently stowed in at least one jacket pocket. (should open one and really see what's inside...)
A small bundle of flagging tape, not the whole roll, but maybe 10', and about the same in para cord.
I NEVER mix booze with guns, so depending on the temps when hunting, I'll have either a thermos, or a water bottle or two. Maybe more water in the truck just in case...
I usually don't do the "Spits" thing, but will have a granola bar or two, or I'll have a ziplock baggie with GORP custom blended with whatever tickled my fancy at Bulk Barn.
I can't be bothered to carry a cell phone when hunting, but will carry a GPS, and a digital camera, Just in case.
I've never carried a book to read in the bush. Yet.

Tags, small camera, binos, boning knife, diamond steel, few cartridges, pillow cases for meat bags, water bottle, bit of rope, compact rain suit. When it comes down to it I don't use the day packs for carrying much, its just a way to get a bit of loose gear in one package for carrying to and from vehicles and stuffing shed clothing into. When I actually need a pack they aren't big enough.
