What's involved in installing ghost ring sights on an 870?

Like it says. How hard would it be to install? Can they easily be taken off/on or would I be better off to go with a rail if I want to change configs from day to day? I'm looking at the Wilson combat sights, how are they? Does anyone have a sight picture, testimonials? Who stock wilson combat stuff in the GTA?

You need to drill and tap the rear. I would also use mroe than epoxy the front sights.

it i would not change the sights at all.

WC are the best.

Contact Wolverine Supplies or P&D. TSE carries the XS sights.
 
I've just received mine (WC with tritium front and rear) but haven't installed them yet.

To answer your question, you would NOT want to remove them, especially on a daily basis. They are meant as a permenant install.

Side note - the instructions say to use a #33 (or something like that) drill bit for the rear holes. What size is that in imperial? Anyone know?

.1130" if it's a #33

I don't want to overly tacticalize the gun as it will still see some bush time and hopefully some skeet as well. Anyone have experience shooting trap/skeet with ring sights?
 
I've only seen one shooter use a ghost ring setup on skeet (a Valtro 14 incher no less) & he had no problem.

IIRC brownells sells a jig & drill set to do locate the rear sight holes. or you can get a smith to do it.

i used their epoxy to do my front sight but it came off after 3 years. you uneed a really strong heat resistant epoxy eg Black Max or similar. Silver solder would be better but i believe the heat doscolors the barrel finish.
 
The front bead needs to be removed for the Wilson Combat front sight to be put on. I have put many on for police agencies and after epoxy, I put an additional pin in to hold it on for the times that the barrel may get smoking hot from lots of shooting. They are the most robust and practical of all the ones out there in my opinion.
