I'm going to be selling a recently acquired Japan made scopechief 3-9 with very fine x hairs and a flip up command post. Heard of them but never seen one till it came on a rifle I bought. Everything works as it should and appears very good condition.
Do guys collect the's old scopes?
Thanks
Rob.

I have one here that is retired to the scrap box.
The windage cap comes off and the command post lever is moved.
Bushnell has no parts for these any more.
I also have a way newer version of this scope in which an outer ring is turned to activate the post.
This scope has failed also.
It is warrantable but I fear it will be replaced.
Phil at Trace may very well get it for repairs as I'm sure he can and will fix it.
Next razzle dazzle scope will be a VX R.

I see they tend to sell stateside in the 150ish range....
I'll list it at 125 tyd I'm thinking and spin the wheel. Just got to get some pics first.... maybe tomorrow.

That's about right. They were good scopes in their day. As stated above, they came in designations based upon age (III, IV,VI), some have been around the block.
After 30 years, they've likely lost their purge, and the tracking may not be exact or repeatable. I've got several, some are 100%, some are not.

Unless you have some sentimental attachment to it, why not let them replace it?

When I lived in Ontario, I took several old Bushnell and Simmons scopes in to the Bushnell warranty centre in North York. A couple of were real dogs...20-30 years old, and bottom of the barrel quality. They unhesitatingly replaced them, on the spot, with current models that were considerably higher quality. They were almost apologetic when they informed me that there was no current model that directly corresponded to the extended-eye-relief Simmons 2.5x shotgun scope that finally gave up the ghost after decades of use and hundreds of slugs fired...but the closest they could come was a variable power Trophy shotgun scope.

I've heard that they aren't as pleasant to deal with by mail, but still, if you've got a scope that doesn't work and they will make it good, why not go for it?

The scope and the way it's set up I really like.
They don't make this model any more and I have no wish for it to
be replaced by a DOA 3500 or some sort.
I'd prefer to have it fixed and sending it in may not go that way in
my favour.
Sending it to Phil at Trace wouldn't be that much to fix and even though
I'd probably lose any chance of a replacement in the future, so be it.

Bushnell isn't a horrible place to deal with.
I've had good success with them over the years.
I've finally discovered Leupold and tend to lean this way with purchases.
There are some hidden secrets out there at gun shows if one can find them.
Even on here if one shall be quick 'nuff.
