I just got a Browning Maxus MOSGB. Love it. But have a question about the Dura-Touch coating.
This is from the manual.
"Be especially careful when cleaning firearms with camouflage, Dura-Touch® Armor Coating and other special finishes. Always prevent these surfaces from coming in contact with cleaning solvents, barrel scrubbers and other strong chemicals. It is preferable to clean these surfaces with a lightweight gun oil containing no solvents"
So straight solvents are out, but does this mean cleaning oils such as G96 cant be used either? As I would think there is solvent in it as well?
So far I've just used a straight Hoppe's oil but would like to spray a bit of G96 or similar now and again while cleaning it. But if any over spray or oil runoff will wreck the finish its not worth it. Also I usually use Hoppes solvent soaked patches to clean the barrel; guess that's out of the question now as don't want to risk wrecking the finish at the end of the barrel. Or are they overstating the sensitivity of Dura-touch? If you wiped off the finish right away it should be ok? Don't want to find out the hard way so thought I'd ask what others have experienced.
Any experiences or tips you all have would be greatly appreciated.
