Just wondering from personal experience what you folks find to be the most accurate, consistent, fastest and flattest shooting longrange round was?

Also for all you TOZ 78 owners how is it? for a hundred bucks im a bit
sceptical. Hows the ballance? I like the look of how close the mag is to the trigger. I hold my rifle target style close to the trigger area and it looks like it would be a good fit......One more thing are the sights removeable?

My Shooters
Marlin 795
remington 552 speedmaster not so concerned since its my plinker

Thanks for the help as always.

As far as the ammo is concerned that issue is very dependent on each rifle. It's very hard to say. Some rifles like this brand of ammo better than the other. You really need to try it out. I currently own 2 Toz-78, once is still unfired. The reason is I was very impressed with it that I bought another one. The trigger is adjustable and the rifle is fairly accurate to be able to shoot dandylions at 50m. I have removed the rear sight on mine to accomodate a scope. I have not tired to remove the front sight. The only general complaint about the TOZ are the cheap plastic mags, but they work. I have had no problems with them.

CCI Stingers are quite flat shooting, but I have not found them to be very accurate. You need to buy a bunch of different ammo and start testing. For example, in my Sako Finnfire PMC Zappers are amazingly accurate. They are on par with Federal Gold Match and Elley Club! You really must do some testing as each rifle is different.

I shoot my Toz every Sunday in a fun freehand target shoot. I personally find the gun is well balanced. The gun is so light that even if it isn't particularly well balanced you'd be hard pressed to notice it. On mine the action was very stiff until I had 1000-1500 rounds through it. We're talking having to smack the bolt handle with the palm of my hand to get it locked down. Now it's much better. Since then I've had zero problems. I removed my rear sight to put a cheapo 4x Bushnell scope on her. The front was stubborn and I haven't had the time or inclination to get around to removing it. The Toz has made a good showing many times in the target shoots at my club. It'll run with the dedicated target guns for the most part at 50 yards. Any problem is invariably the doofus holding the gun... me. :)

I've gone with a couple different ammo types but generally have best success with the cheapo Xpert 22. That may be because that's what my scope was originally dialed in on. I plan on buying a couple different brands and taking them out after Xmas to see which group best from a gun vise.

I got a few boxes of Xpert and regretted it based on all the bad things I have read about this ammo. But at the range it was reasonably accurate in my 10/22. Edit 12/27/05 --> I shot a ton of Xperts at the range today. Most groups between 0.5 and 0.75 inches in my 10/22.

Winchester Dynapoints are quite good for bulk ammo if you can find them anywhere. Walmart may or may not bring them back in the future.
