Whats the best for a black walnut M1 stock?

Just wondering how to treat a new M1 walnut stock. Tung oil?

I use marine grade linseed oil. It goes into the wood instead of just staying on the surface. Been doing this for 40 years.

yeah Tung oil will do.

Will it darken the wood/grain?

marine grade linseed oil will darken the wood/grain. you put it on and let it soak in and wipe the rest off. The more coats the darker it will get, but it will take a few to do it.
