For what its worth Bushnell has advised that their 1500 rangefinder won't be available for the next season because "the US military has bought up all their production". This came right from my Bushnell reps as this is what they were told at their sales meeting. I don't know how much of this to believe other that we wont' be seeing anymore 1500's for a while (if ever). In response to this, Bushnell is upgrading the Legend rangefinder to increase the range to 1200 yds. The legend is a compact unit that was lost between the new upgraded Scout and 1500 so it looks like that will be their top of the line model. It wouldn't suprise me if Bushnell will be bring out a new compact high performance unit in the near future. Oh...and Jerry I shoot that far too...I just don't know where the bullets are landing LOL. Phil.

I bought a Busnell elite 1500 arc from Cabela's. They had them on for 299 and this was back in August when the $ was about par.
I am mostly into whitetail and coyote hunting and it works well for me. Has a couple of features that I find useful, like being able to pick your object thru branches. Usually quick to range most objects out to about 800 yds max. which is obviously more than adequate for what I'm doing.

It all depends on what you want to do with it.
If it is for bowhunting and short range stuff, say out to 300 yards, a basic Bushnell for under $200 will do it just find. That's what I have and it works fine for what I want.
Unless you are hunting in the mountains I wouldn't pay an extra cent for any ARC feature. It's a pure scam for the most part.
