I was told that you could resize (and cut) 300 Savage brass to use as 8mm Kurz brass, and because the Savage brass was thinner that 308 brass, the neck would be just right for reloading, "WRONG"!!! I'vd done all that work so far, but have discovered that the neck brass is still too thick.

So, what is the best tool out there to turn the neck down IYHO?

Cheers
Dean

PS: I do have some of the new made Kurz brass, but I'd still like to make this stuff useable.... :D

Best neck turning tool

I have been using the Forster trimmer with the neck turning tool attachnent for years to turn .30-06 brass into .257 Robt. Not only is there a reduction in diameter but the .257 neck is formed where the '06 shoulder used to be. All that brass means a thick neck which I must turn down. The Forster uniforms the neck wall thickness as well as thinning it out and helps keep the bullet concentric in the bore.
If you want to keep the tolerances to a minimum I would suggest getting a tube micrometer to ensure that no oversized brass gets past the reloading stage.
