I find the search function useless, so if this is a repeat question forgive me.

What is the current cost to reload .45 ACP, assuming you buy everything--bullets, powder and primers?

Thanks.

good cast bullet .12cents
Powder .03cents
Primer .04cents
Total...19cents......$9.50 for a box of 50...unless my ciphering is off again.

You will spend $0.27 a pop base on a $0.10 45 ACP brass.
See breakdown below:
> say Win231 Powder $25.00 a pound/7000 x 5.2 powder charge = $0.0186
> Large Pistol Primer $28.00 per K/1000 = $0.0280
> Win 230 grns Projectile = $0.12
> Used brass 45 ACP Brass = $0.10
T O T A L p e r B U L L E T = $0.2673

The price of bullets for them seems to be getting completely out of hand. Phoenix Range in Edmonton wants $210 for a thousand 230gr FMJ.

If you can get bullets cheaply, say under $120/k, you can load the cartridge cheaply. But I don't know of anywhere in AB to get even cast bullets for less than $160/k.

I cast my own bullets and have for years so I haven't paid any attention to buying cast bullets in stores. The only bullets I buy is nosler hunting bullets and one box of those will last me about 2-3 years. Cast your own bullets and you can quickly see that my average cost per round is only 5 cents, I don't pay for brass or bullets. The equipment for casting your own stuff has paid for itself in the early 80's sometime but I keep buying molds and having fun. Currently I am up to over 90 different bullet molds for all my toys, I am so far gone on molds I am actually designing my own now and having Lee Precision custom make them for me. Try finding a 200 grn size .361 bullet for the Enfield 38/200 revolver so when you fire it the point of aim is where the point of impact is, it is much lower if you use a regular 158grn .357 bullet not to mention horrible accuracy and sometime leading in the barrel.

I offer top quality hornady action pistol .451 230 FMJ encapsulated for $170 per 1000...

I agree reloading your own just means your going to shoot more...

For me reloading saving goes back in my shooting , I shoot more for the same price, and quality is excellent and I can adapt my load to my need. So I can reload some .45ACP for practice, for IPSC or for my revolver in .45ACP.

Or I can tailored some load in .44Mag, Introducing people to .44MAG with medium load and when they can couple with the recoil, introducing them to heavier load, if they wish.

Finally, it is plain fun. When you finally get that rifle or pistol doing MOA or bring back that deer home...Awesome feeling.

As they say! Priceless

M T Chambers supply out of Prince Albert Sask sells cast bullets, I can't quote his price right now, he is ben hunchak on these boards.

Bruce Tauber of Dixie Gun Works out of Castor AB also is selling someones cast bullets, I believe he said $80/1000.

Or do as mentioned and cast your own, it's not that expensive to get into and pays for itself quickly. Of course it's more time spent making rounds instead of shooting them, so it depends on your situation.

M.T. Chambers' price for handcast .45 ACP run from $80-90 depending on design and weight, your choice of design, alloy, diameter....6 diff. bullets for the .45 Auto.

Very helpful spreadsheet...thanks

50 rounds of 45 Auto at a cost of $6.28...not bad at all
the load is:
5.5 grain Win. 231
Win. large pistol primer
200 bullets copper plated ( got 1000 for $70 )
Brass is free...:D

By the way, what is the cost for factory ammo?,,,didn't buy factory ammo in decades.

M.T. Chambers list is updated every month and now features around 100 dif. molds, problem is that he is pretty thick and doesn't know how to update his website.

And you allways have ammo sometimes stores like LeBons here in TO dont have ammo instock for weeks:confused:
