So I'm not really sure about the order I do things when it comes to getting an ATT. I'm not sure what I have to do. I'm 18 and my PAL/RPAL is on it's way in the mail. Please help.

You will get the LTATT at the same time as you are registering a restricted firearm with the CFC. When you are first buying you will get a short term for getting it from purchase place to your home. Usually the short term and long term ATT are done at the same time.

Please note: Neither will happen without being the member of a gun club. (or a registered collector).

The tricky thing is that everything is province-dependent. In BC, you need a LTATT in order for a transfer to be made to you. In ONT, you need to have possession of a registered firearm before you can be issued a LTATT. If you could let us know which province you're from, perhaps someone from your ball park could chime in and give a proper breakdown?

no problem getting one day ATTs to get firearms from a store home, not a club member or a collector. this is in ON. i keep telling them i am planning to join but as of this moment not a member yet.

Not in Alberta or BC. I thought things were easier here? You need club membership to complete a Restricted transfer. When you are deemed worthy you are faxed/emailed the ST and LTATT at the same time within minutes, not months as people in Ontario have previously reported.

just did a transfer the other day. they asked about my membership. I made the mistake of letting my CHAS membership lapse, but I get a pass to Spruce Grove through work, the approved the transfer without hassle. My LTATT has no clubs listed, covers all restricteds I have; but it was issued in 2005, still good until September 2010.

Saskatchewan you need to be a member of a club before they will complete the transfer, they will even phone if they dont have it already on file, then after that they will just send you the LTATT in the mail for all clubs in the prov and you dont even have to apply.

Sorry about not having my location on my profile. Forgot about that.

I'm in Edmonton, AB.

Are there any good gun clubs in/around edmonton with rifle ranges? The longer the better.
