They are made in China, I know that. But they seem to be dropping in price almost daily. Are they any good or is the company going out of business?

Many of the models are made in Japan, as is the case for the Conquer X7 that are being cleared out.

Riton's been pretty aggressive with releasing new models on an accelerated schedule --- I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that are on sale are no longer the latest-and-greatest. Some of the other sale models had non-catalogued features, so they could also have been contract overruns.

Sorry, I don't have any specifics so I'm just speculating.

the price "off" is crazy, but even the seller wouldnt tell me how they compare to a Match Pro so I'm not even going to touch them. I doubt theyre a great secret like a stevens 200 or NS522

Sometimes I wonder how much the actual cost is to manufacture those scopes. I have one I bought on aliexpress for $76 all in and I was seriously shocked how good that scope actually is. The glass is clear, illumination, zero stop, parallax. I have only used it on my 22 but so far no complains.

just comparing prices of high end brands from 6-10 years ago and the absolute explosion in price to where we are now, I cant even imagine how wide their profit margins on these things is. I cant see how they could cost so much more to manufacture in such a short time. could explain why they are able to offer such a deep discount.

Everything.

Check out this beach chair:

shangyiplastic.en.made-in-china.com/product/ajnxTNFyAZcr/China-Outdoor-PP-Plastic-Folding-Lounge-Beach-Chair-with-Wheels.html

and compare retail here:

wayfair.ca/outdoor/pdp/arlmont-co-folding-lounger-chaise-chair-with-wheels-c007368251.html

I have seen them sell in China retail for like $70. Same crap.

Yes, you have to fill a container with that stuff but the cost per chair ain't so much anymore. A few dollars maybe.

Back to scopes. I was looking at the Arken EP5 but I am not certain how their warranty will work in Canada plus the weight is really a turn off. One guy online wrote that it compares to an iron cast pipe, lol.

I think that even used prices for scopes are a bit out of reality. I bought a nice Nightforce scope here on the EE 10 years ago for just over 1K and the retail at the time was like $2,200. But I must say that the quality and clarity of those scopes are really amazing. Too bad I sold it.

Honestly, if you’re looking at low end stuff with questionable warranty, maybe try something with known quality warranty?
Burris/bushnell/Vortex/Leupold

I've found "SMALL EYE BOX" is common for Low and Med price scopes in the higher Mag ranges, especially in FFP. OK for target work, but c/b hazardous for Hunting Rifles.

Everything.

Arken EP5 is A solid buy. Only negatives are it’s a compact scope with ok eye relief. 3.4”? On most of my rifles the scope has to be mounted almost as far back as the rear ring allows. Not a great choice for 22 as the parallax doesn’t work at 25 yards. For 50 sure but not close up. Only a real concern with 22 or pistol calibers.

The Discovery PRS ED is also a great buy. Japanese ED glass in a Chinese scope. It also has a parralax that will work for 22 at 25 yards.

With the recent price drop on the Arken EP5 it’s an easy recommendation. Before that the much lower price of the Discovery made it the Best Buy.
