What's the deal with the new production Norinco 7.62x54r ammo?

They were originally described as non-corrosive but now they're determined as being corrosive (thank you for nail testing and letting us know, especially when that ammo is still being listed as non-corrosive on some retailers' sites).

Did Norinco just lie to retailers in regards to the munition's corrosive nature?

Ouch thats too bad. Ive seen it listen on a few dealers websites ( for substantially more) and wondered. Thats too bad especially given the stakes are high

I've got some coming from another dealer..advertised as non-corrosive so paid more..
I'm going to have to do a nail test..
Someone is not truthful...

Ya I got stung by this as well with a shipment of Norc non-corrosive 7.62x39 that was being sold by multiple vendors a few years back. When the truth came out (nail test by one of the vendors) everyone was pissed off and shocked. Except a certain vendor in BC. Who kept selling it as non-corrosuve.

The vendors were all unanimous in their assertions that Norinco was and remains dishonest and unapologetic.

Hmmm, then I suppose that all the recent stuff, 7.62x25, 7.62x39, and 7.62x54r is really corrosive? I wonder if the Norinco 7.62xx39 that CanAm sold a couple years ago is really non-corrosive then? Might have to test my stuff out. I also think I remember reading that people thought that Norinco would change things around in the factory and switch between non-corrosive and corrosive primers depending on what they had and didn't mark the cases any differently, so people were getting some corrosive and some non-corrosive from the same batches that were at dealers. If that is the case, there are probably a mix of non-corrosive and corrosive rounds in each case and probably in each box! Best to just buy the surplus corrosive and save some money I guess!

I had a Tokerav bore rust out on me unexpectadly. I wonder if that Norinco non-corrosive ammo was at fault? Hmmmm. I just thought I may have forgotten to clean it after but that is rare for me.

Corrosive ammunition will not rust your gun out if you clean it properly after firing, just saying. But the fact that they sold corrosive ammunition and claimed it was non corrosive is simply unacceptable.

The Bullet weight is 150gr compare with the Surplus 147 is a bit heavier. It's currently under clearance, get a case of 300 rounds for just $169, if you get 2 cases, shipping will be free. Here's the link:
