There's a lot of discussion on this if you google it or visit opticstalk forum.
1 EL have field flattener lenses. Extra lenses that put more depth into focus at the same time, this means if you focus clearly on an object other objects closer and further will also be in focus to a greater extent than most binoculars. Also trees etc at the edge of your view will not appear to curve. They are said to have a drawback with this system called rolling ball where the view rolls and curves when you pan left and right. Its a trade off.
2 SLC are generally aimed at hunters so have a contrast/tint to the view. By not trying to represent perfectly true to life colors they are supposed to make animals stand out against the background making it easier to spot game in the shadows of the foliage.
Everything else as far as quality and construction is reportedly equal. The extra lenses in the EL are apparently what makes them cost more.
Birders prefer perfect true to life color for identifying subtle differences in subspecies. The SLC is the top "hunting" bino fromSwarovski. Most of what I found says you cant go wrong with either but its a must that you make anin person comparison before you decide. Apparently the rolling ball effect can evenmake some people naseous.
Ask Omer, board sponsor Plainsight Solutions he's the expert.
