What's the difference between an SL8-4 and and SL8-5?

The rail along the top of the rifle and the distance between front and rear sights is one difference. I'm not sure about the internals though.

As already stated by Mr cancer, it's just the rail is different. The -5 is longer. Other than that, they are the same.

Is it just me or would a flatter (lower profile) rail make that weapon look a lot nicer? I personally love the business end of the weapon but the stock (I know, get the kit).

Speaking of the kit...how much weight does that shed by putting a AR telescopic? Depends on stock but I'm guessing you might shed a bit of weight regardless.

the stock HK is pretty heavy in itself...but it seems a lot of the weight (at least for me) is at the front.

they feel pretty good to me though...
