What's the minimum power for comfort to 500-600 yrds for varmint

I'd like to know from you all what would be the minimum powered scope needed for hunting small game in the 8"-10" sizes up to 600 yrds and be comfortable.

You want a scope to hunt squirel sized game at 600 yds. Not that it matters, but what cal. are you shooting?

you want min 16X probably more comfortable with 20X. I smack ground hawgs @ 400 yards with my 4-16x50 A/O 4200 bushnell and at that point I'm looking for more magnification...mind you I like to see into their little eyes as I send the 220 Swift dancing

A bit bigger than that. Like a fox, whose body from the back to it's underside would be in that range. As for caliber, I'm getting ready to get a new one that's why I'm asking.

From what I see here and elsewhere it would be from 16 to 24 power to see them up close. I also just saw another good point, that if you have very good glass that a 10x would be enough??

I have a 4x12 on a 243 and it workes wonderful on coyotes in that 4-600 yd Zone. I can see them farther but need a very good rest to shoot father.

4.5-14x40 or 50 minimum...

I would probably get a 6-24 or a 4-16 power scope
