Any thoughts or comments about the Kriss vector . Information on them is hard to come by. I have been thinking of getting one, the carbine/ nonrestrictived one. What I have Been able to find go for 2000.00 + and the mag's ( glock) go between 45.00 and 65.00. Are they that good / worth the price? Comments good and bad need help to decide. Have found one with the sights included , hard case , lock and one mag. Ammo, ball is the best I guess? Never shot 45 hand gun before so don't know what to expect. Thanks to all that answer!

In my experience, they're picky with ammo. In the user manual, there's a list of "approved" ammo brands/types. You can probably find this online. I tried some Norinco .45ACP and got frequent light strikes.

Also the carbine is really awkward to handle. First for the lack of any forward gripping position unless you're in the habit of wearing oven mitts, and second because the buttstock has almost no weight in it to counterbalance the barrel and shroud.

Rented a carbine and a restricted at the range. Fired 50rds through each. Got 3 jams and found the controllability in rapid fire no better than the USC/UMP. I would pass on one.

I have shot the NR and liked it but there are the faults mentioned... There is a retracting or ajistable version of the Vector that has more rearward weight... But no folding the stock on that one and dang is it ugly.

Tried it, thought it was one of the coolest looking guns out there, hated how the NR has that stupid long barrel, makes it awkward to shoot in my opinion. Shot it, found it shot alright didn't move much and came back I. Target quickly enough. I agree with everyone else though, the stupid long barrel and shroud really offset the ballence. I wouldn't buy one either.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the whole idea of this design is to have controlled full auto fire ? I get the attraction , it looks kinda bad ass but , seeing as we are only allowed semi auto with a limited number of rounds ( I'm assuming about 10 , that's what I think a glock mag holds ) I just don't see the point of it all , and the long barrel on the nr looks a little strange to me .

I have actually shot the full auto version earlier this year in the states and it was cool as heck! Not quite as controllable as the Uzi or the mp5 but those are 9mm not 45,
The kriss was my fav though cause its rate of fire was phenomenally fast. I have no issues at all with the real mcoy,

That being said though after using the real deal the Canadian version with its limited mags, ungainly long barrel and semi only function the money can be better spent on other fun toys.

They're SH!t. I too have run one in fa, it choked repeatedly and was less controllable than an MP5, p90 or even an ar. Sub guns are all but dead and 45 sucks. The kriss weighs a ton and the overall size is equal to an sbr with superior ballistics and reliability.

Ive owned 4... all were flawless using the cheapest ammo I could get. 1000 rounds of blazer aluminum and well over 1000 rounds of norc surplus. I had no malfunctions in any of them.

You can't hold it like an AR... its a different gun. You have to hold it like a Vector and, when you get that point, its extremely comfortable. So easy to manipulate the controls. I found mag changes to be extremely smooth and fast.

The NR barrel DOES look weird... but you CAN do something about it:

I personally found the weight bias to be excellent. Your holding everything in your hands and it doesnt feel heavy at all. I found it pointed well and was surprisingly accurate out to 100 yards with cheap ammo. Its SUPER easy to clean and I ran mine forever with dirty ammo just to see if it would gum up and even though it got incredibly dirty it still ran fine.

The only things I didnt like was the looseness of the folding stock after a few 1000 rounds and I didnt like the FEEL of the recoil. It has very little and it has almost zero muzzle climb... very controllable. But it has this weird vibration feeling when it fires that I just didnt like. However, I loved the rest of the gun.

Finally, I also fired one full auto in West Yellowstone Montana... no malfunctions. Ive been back since and fired the same gun again... no malfunctions:

As I said I like the one I have shot and the three that my friends and family own all shoot fine other then one of my buds' seems to hate any federal ammo but that is just his. People that like the Vector seem to like the tavor as well. I still can't over come Tavor eye but I love the Tavor even more.

The real problem with the short barrel verion of the Vector is people have a nasty habit of shooting fingers off.

the standard short barrel on full auto- excellent. (shot one at a range in Houston).
the full length barrel on semi auto- no fun, ergonomically incorrect, pointless (in my opinion of coarse)

WHY I DON'T LIKE THE KRISS VECTOR

June 4, 2013 · by Andrew Tuohy ·

I first examined the KRISS Vector submachinegun at IWA in 2011. I did not understand why it needed to exist. I spent an evening at a Cuban cigar lounge in Nuremberg with some executives and tech guys from the company explaining my opinion to them. There was a former Swiss police officer who worked on the Sphinx pistol program (the companies are related) in attendance; he nodded as I spoke with a barely perceptible smile on his face. Essentially, I didn’t see why something as large and heavy as the Vector, even in short barrel format, needed to be in a pistol caliber. And if it was to be in a pistol caliber and marketed to US law enforcement, as the vice president of the company intended to do, then it should be in .40, not .45.

It took two years for me to get high speed video of the Vector, but I see nothing which changes my mind. I am not shown firing it on video, although I did shoot it numerous times. The two shooters in this video are physically strong, experienced in the use of firearms, and doing their best to keep the weapon on target.

The operating system is supposed to reduce muzzle climb through the reciprocating components moving down at an angle instead of back towards the shooter. It’s also claimed that the system will reduce recoil.

What I felt and observed is that the weapon jumps up and down in an arcing motion as the shooter fires it. If a strong shooter using good technique fires the weapon, the muzzle will stay close to being on target – but this is hardly a property unique to the Vector. The motion of the firearm is rather violent and causes the upper and lower halves of the Vector to briefly separate from one another and the variable power optic to flex. With +P ammunition, this motion was so violent as to cause the magazine to fall out of the weapon numerous times.

The cumulation of all this movement is a rather sharp shock delivered to the shooter, requiring a very brief pause before the sights or optic can be reacquired and the weapon fired again. In the end, it does not matter if the weapon comes up at an angle or makes a tiny rainbow motion – there is still a small period of time during which the shooter will be unable to put a round on target, and I am not convinced that the KRISS Vector reduces this time period by any margin.

Andrew annoys me 99% of the time. He is a self righteous gun hipster. His flash hider/suppressor research was his only redeeming feature. That and we both wear Combat Flip Flop AK-47's.

The carbine I had wasn't at all picky about ammo and would feed and eject every type of factory ammo I tried and also a couple different handloads I had made up.
I found it to be quite accurate and once I figured out the holdover I could ring the gong at 200yds regularly.

I did find the recoil impulse was very strange. It was a straight back kick but it still had recoil. I found that it would hit my cheek in a weird way sometimes and felt like I was going to get a bruise even though I never did.
I liked it but just found that it didn't do anything that something else I had couldn't do. I sold it and for some unknown reason I just bough an HK USC. We'll see how long this one stays before I sell it off.
