What's the trick to disassembling Glock magazines?!?!

I am trying to disassemble a Glock 9mm magazine without marring up the plastic or anything and can't seem to do it for the life of me. I looked up how to do it and found a few very poorly described methods on the internet, but I know someone on here must have a trick.

I know I could get it off if I wrenched it, but they're brand new and I hate new stuff being scratched even if it is just a magazine.... lol

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You gotta squeeze the sides together at the base to get the floorplate to slide off. Some can be squeezed by hand or against a solid object, mine require a small c-clamp to squeeze the edges in enough.

First, a drop of oil on both tangs... then a long rod almost the same size diameter as the hole; get it in there good and pry until it pops. The first time is always the hardest... it's easy after that :)

Thanks very much for the responses guys, found this video which really helped as well (I'm more of a visual learner lol). Shows it pretty much how you guys said.

Thanks again!!

Its easy if you know the "trick" I read this in an official annual GLOCK magazine. Use a paunch same size as hole in floor plate...insert and despress spring retainer...apply pressure downward and out, and it should pop right out.

That video is actually from the Glock armourer's DVD or whatever from what the website said. I just used a long allen key the same size as the hole. Worked like a charm.

What? Allen keys and punches? No! You have to buy the Glock Armorer tool and the Glock workplace matt. Puh-lease tell me you didn't touch your Glock pistol without wearing your Glock Perfection baseball cap and Glock pin? Herasey I tell you! You better stop what you're doing and say 50 Hail Glock's an then run around and insult ten non-Glock shooters as penance.

Excuse me now while I go repolish my as-yet-unused Glock trenching tool.

and once you have them apart... use a file or exacto knife and get rid of the tabs on the mag body... the pin is more then enough to hold the mag together... and if you go to an IPSC match and need to clean your mags... you can without having to freak out on the mags.....

so I am not the only one who's heard of cutting the tabs off. good, I thought I'd imagined that. However, if you are shooting IPSC and you get inspected, and you've cut those tabs off, you're bumped to Open. Dumb I know, but it's the rules.

Didn't think about that but I don't shoot production...

Man I laughed hard when I read this :D

Though I would like to get that little tool if it's only a few bucks. It's nice and small, the right diameter, and has a handle for the prying .....
