Whats with all the CZ858 hype?

I was never around to see the CZ's 600$ but i think its a unfair comparison to todays prices because everything was cheaper including rent, Gas, intenet, netflix, ext.... Your not really seeing a fair comparison. Even the VZ climbed from 800-1060$...Sks's used to sell for 170$ now there sale price is 200$ lol...

The 858's used to sell at $699 new when first imported, 4 mags, mag pouch and bayonet included. Today you could part it all out for close to $1500! Not too shabby, eh? And to think of all those pantie-wetting idiots who had a fire sale on them in the EE when word of prohibition came... now the joke's on you, lol!


I am yet to see ANY military-grade firearm that actually loses value over time. Everything I have ever bought is now worth double or triple what I paid... meanwhile, the stinkin' TFSA at the bank has a hard time going up a couple of bucks for over a year now! :mad:

An SKS is more of a military rifle than an 858. I'm actually not too sure what you are suggesting with regards to "military grade" anyway. Historically sporting arms have always been higher quality than military arms. That being said, 6-700 for the 858 was a bargain, I wish I had bought 50 of them. Now 1500? you'll be buying at the top of the market at that price. Much better guns to had in the 1000$ range.

The CSA VZ 58 is a purpose built semi auto for the civilian market. The CZ 858 is the Czech military rifle with a new barrel if non restricted, and a modified receiver and fire control group to make it semi auto. The package you get with the 858 with 4 mags in a pouch, sling, cleaning kit and bayonet is essentially what the Czech military was issued
It has seen combat in a variety of conflicts and is still in use.
