What's your closest ever shot on deer?

It was my second deer, a nice little 8 pointer. I showed up at the camp at 7:20 am on the fourth day of the season. Everyone was already on stands and luckily enough our dogger hadn't left yet. On my stand at 8am, buck down at 9am at 10 yards! My 1 oz slug from my 870 took out the bottom third of its heart. He went one direction, and in a hurry!
25 yards last year with my 12 gauge 870 and some 3" Barnes expanders. I was sitting on the edge of a creek when a doe jumpped across just infront of me, Bang I shot! She went 30 yards and laid down, the slug zipped threw both lungs. This was my 1st deer. I got 2 this year, was my second deer season.

I shot one that I could touch with the muzzle when it fell. It was running down a trail towards me, the shot was at maybe 5 yds. Two others at less than 10 yards. All three were with a muzzle loader.
20-30 feet. With a 9.3 X 57. I think I was helping the gene pool by taking out the retarded deer that year. - dan

I've been asked many times why I didn't just hit it over the head with the 1886.

I shot a 10 point buck one time at about 7 yards, right thru the heart. He turned and ran away, so I put another at the back of his neck, at about 20 yds. Still had to put another in him to expire. Lesson learned about high powered rifles at extreme close ranges, and adrenaline filled deer.

Less than 10 " in the forehead,A doe who slid to a stop right in front of me. I was on a "shotgun "watch. Needless to say there was brain matter everywhere!!! JITC
