What's your experience hunting with a BLR?

My first rifle was a BLR in .308. The only thing I didn't like about it was the half #### safety. I always felt nervous when I was taking it from full #### back to half #### to engage the safety. Many a hunter has dropped that hammer and had a negligent discharge. I do however regret selling it as it was my first rifle....

From what I've read there is one gunsmith in the states that do a really good job with those trigger but its not all gunsmith that want to adjust them.

I bought a 358win late last October.
I enjoy shooting this gal.
Will be my number 2 in the moose hunt coming up.
I plan on using her for deer this season as well.
Lots to like about her.
Trigger isn't horrible as some suggest.
I have a sneeky feeling it has be altered and a nice job too.
Could be a tad lighter, but no complaints.

I loved mine, still miss it. It shot great with Winny Silvertips. I love the way it handled/carried, not a huge fan of the exposed hammer.

Mine was in 30-06.

I did not care for it too much, particularly the mechanical operation of it and when operating fast, I found the bolt "slamming" rearward a little unsettling. At some point in time, with fast/excited operation, that was going to be an issue for me. That and all those intricate gears. I gave away to someone, whom now also shares my concerns (he now prefers a designed semi or bolt actions).

I am more comfortable with the traditional levers.

All those intricate gears. Two is a big number for you!Issues for you, normal for others.I will take it off you and your buddies hands, if it is too much for you fellows to handle. If you found the bolt travel unsettling,it must have caused panic if it was ever fired.

I have owned a few both in .308 and now in .358 Win. Great little fast handling carbines. I don't see the point of a long action BLR especially the mag versions with the long barrels. Never had any issues with any of mine and really for a hunting rifle the trigger is workable. No hell but still does the job.

Cant say much more about them that hasnt been said already.

My 7mm08 has taken a few whitetails, 2 mule deer, 1 black bear, missed a wolf (not rifles fault, totally my own. rifle scope was way out of adjustment and I should have checked it before going out).

Definately will never sell this gun. Kind of wish they would make a synthetic stock one year.

As per usual, the d!ckhead strikes again...I guess it comes down to the fact that if it isn't your opinion, then all others are discounted and maliciously transgressed. You went too far this time. Consider yourself reported.

There's 3 of em In my gang, 2 in 308 and one In 30-06. And the 3 guys that use em USE EM! Not very often you hear one bang...It's usually bang bang bang bang bang...(clip change) bang bang bang, I'm not quite sure how they load the deer up with the entire first clip and It still don't fall down, they make good shots but the 150 grain they use in there 308's just don't get'er done very good but they make a mega mess. My cousin with the 30-06 on the other hand with his 180 grain balls flattens em in a hurry

Moral of my story is the thin barrel spraying shots is pretty redonk, they hit where they aim
