I just got a new cz 550 and i would like to dress it with something other than bushnell . not that i have anything against bushnell every rifle i own has one. I just dont feel its appropriate for a cz. What are your favourite scopes, & what would you recomend for this particular rifle?:)

I currently own 2 Nikon Monarchs, 2 Leupold, a Weaver and , 2 burris and a Zeiss Conquest. By far I ike the conquest. Binoculars I currently am using a new pair of Leica Ultravids which are awesome, previouls had Pentax SP's, my son is using Pentax HR11's and I have a pair of Minox IF 6.5x32's.. I also have a Pentax pe65 spotter.

Of the scopes I own assuming that was the real question in order of preference conquest, burris FF11, Nikon Monarch, leupold.

I had a pile of Bushnells that I got from a rep that was retiring, and granted I got a great buy on them, but have also bought some rifles that came with Zeiss conquests and they certainly are a cut above. That said there are higher end Zeiss product that blows conquest out of the water as well. Kahles make a very nice scope of european quality. FS

It took me almost 8 years before I got my first Leupold, and now all my guns are topped with them with exception of my CZ 221 Fireball, which has a Burris Fullfield II

You cannot go wrong with Leupold, it is as simple as that, from a Rifleman to a VX-7 they have it all, with a wicked warranty

A scope is an optical AIMING device.

It is not an optical device that you peer through for hours, so no need for it to be perfect in optical clarity, etc.

However, it must be DURABLE and optically adequate for your needs.

I pick Leupold for my scopes, since they are durable, have excellent warranty, and are affordable. There is no doubt that some Euro glass will have better optics, but to me it is a moot point.

I am far more interested in sinking my money into high end binoculars (I use Leica Ultravid 10x42) and spotting scope (I use Ziess 15-45) which I will be peering through for hours.

Leupold scopes are very good, they are very durable, and they do everythign a north american hunter needs a rifle scope to do, at an affordable price.

More expensive optics are excelent, but I do not believe them to be necessary, under most field conditions.:)

Leupold would be my 1st choice, but I also own a couple of B&L and a Bushnell 3200. Quality and customer service are my priorities.

.

Lots of interesting response so far . What about power and size ? the rifle is chambered in 7mm rem . So i was thinking of maybe a 50mm , up to a 12x . i really like leupold my dad has one on his blr but i was also looking at the nikon & burris , im gonna seriously consider ever suggetion you guys make .

Depends on the intended application, of course, but generally speaking there are few occasions where you are going to need more than a quality 3-9X. Objective lens size isn't a big factor if you have quality glass to start with.

Leupold ... all the way.

Out West and in the lower 48, 3 - 9 is a very popular choice for the wide-open, back East, it's more 1 - 4 or 1.5 - 4.5 for the thick stuff and 2 - 7 for more general use.
