Whats your favorite hunting scope with dialing for elevation

What is everyones choices for favorite hunting crossover dialing scope in the 1.5 lb range. With dependability being high in the list, magnification in the 3- (14/20ish) x (40/50ish). Mostly Im interested in people picks. I have a old name standby that would be my pick but its zero seems to move(?), sent it in but not sure if I want to give it the best life of a new gun. New brands out there, maybe some are good?
Im looking for something that has a fine enough reticle that gives you confidence at 700yrds, yet still can put up and shoot quick in a stalk.
Thx Eric

There are a lot of good choices these days and I do not believe that there is one definitive answer - that is, a number of scopes will do what you need.

I have a few Zeiss 3-9 x 40 with their version of a ballistic reticle. Works fine, just as Leupold, Swaro, etc.

My favorite out of the herd is my Nightforce 2.5 - 10 x 32 with an MOA ballistic reticle. With my 250 grn handloads I have holdover marks out to 500, in 50 yard increments past 300, and could be further but I don't practice out there at this time. My Nightforce has been on the 338wm for a long time and has never had any issues wrt to reliability or anything for that matter. As well, it has an adjustable, illuminated reticle for low light conditions that I have found very helpful from time to time.

The list of sub-1.5lb scopes under $2k that will track reliably for hundreds of rounds is short. Lightweight hunting scopes tend to have underbuilt internals that don't hold up to turret twisters.
Very true. Add in being able to take a bump or two, and stay zeroed, the list gets even shorter.

Thx again everyone with observations, opinions and experience. I am really liking (have not bought just shopped) the Zeiss Conquest V4 line, and have heard good things so far about repeatability with dialling. I do believe the Leupold VX5 is better in the category of a cleaner smoother scope as the turrets are lower profile.

Bushnell LRHS 3-12 and 4.5-18 have been deadnuts reliable for me on several rifles now. I much prefer the 3-12 version as the reticle is slightly finer and allows for a harder hold at distance.

As to the ethical at 700 yards question (?) or point made above…. If a shooter who hunts gets to the point where they are making consistent first round hits with their hunting rifle at 7/8/9/1000 yards on MOA size targets, it sure takes the guesswork out of 3/4/500 yard first round hits from the same rifle.
And it’s tough to get proficient with that rifle at 7/8/9/1000 yards if you don’t have the glass capable of that distance. And regardless of what the tv says, I really don’t think there are many guys shooting at big game past 5 or 600 yards even when they have the skills and equipment available, if you don’t count the guys that would have tried that shot at that distance after they were guessing the range and taking a poke with their trusty 300wm and 3x9 Leupold vxii…

Ssssshhhhh. Those are getting hard enough to find… 🤪

I keep hoping a quality manufacture will introduce a exact clone of the 3-12, or even a reasonably close copy. No dice so far.
