What's your favorite semi-auto handgun?

I'm looking for what peoples' favorite semi-automatics are and the reasons behind their choice. For example, I hear many people claim the Glock line of handguns are their favorite due to the low bore axis, making it controllable, and the grip angle, making it point very naturally for them. I'm hoping to see reasoning besides "it fits my hand", because it's obvious that your favorite fits your hand well. Otherwise, it wouldn't be your favorite! I'm asking this of you forum-goers because I'm distraught in choosing my own favorite and would love to see others ways of choosing such a pistol.

Sig P210 of any variety, old or new. They are beautifully built, lock up is vault tight, slide is as smooth as butter, the ergonomics of the pistol work very well for me, they are extremely accurate and I appreciate the heritage of the gun. A P210 is the last pistol I would ever sell.

I don't think anyone makes single shot sidearms anymore

He meant non-revolver.

My favorite is my 1918 colt "1911" in .455 Webley auto in a very low serial number. I now have three 1911's and this one is my favorite due to its mint condition, rarity and that it survived both world wars. I also just prefer the look of the 1911s over most other styles.

I'm not sure it makes sense to nominate a 'favorite'...then why would you bother having anything else?

I carry an M&P40 and I have to say it's about perfect as a service sidearm....likewise the M&P45. I don't have every M&P caliber or model, but I feel safe in saying I'd like them too.

Sigs are a great shooting, great quality handgun, and I really don't feel the need to explore any other type of pistol. Word has it that Sig will be producing a P220 in 10mm before long [next year apparently] and I mean to have one of those too.

^What he said.

I love my Shadows, 'cause I use them for competitions, and I find them very accurate and they fit my hand well.
A couple of 1911's (40S&W and 45ACP) also come out to play every now and then.
Then there's my M&P45 which I sometimes bring out to league night.
And if I ever need a pick-me-up, I break out the DE (44 or 50)
For nostalgia, I've got a Tok or the CZ-52.

Which one's my fav? Hmmmm........

They all are!! :D:D

Makes sense. I have 0 experience with sidearms, but isn't a revolver still semi auto? One pull of the trigger = one bang?

I'm the type of person that likes history. I like old cars, heritage houses, handcrafted things. I'd say for me it would be an older Browning Hi-Power or a good quality 1911
