So I just ordered an m305 (18.5) and am onto looking for some ammo to fire. I was wondering what shoots best in your m305? I'm not looking to shoot too much at once (I'm guessing that'll change once I get my hands on it!) but can anyone give me some reccomendations? :) all input is welcome!

Cheers,
Riley

PPU, i found all PPU fit the chamber without any plays. Other commercial brass wobble a bit in the chamber.

Free stuff is the best....

S&B, PPU, Norinco. Try em all see what shoots best in your rifle.

Avoid american eagle/federal. (Although I haven't had an issue yet)

That's what I plan on doing! I'm going to make a Walmart ammo run & pick up a few boxes this week to test out :) I just wanted to learn what some run in their rifles

Federal power shok has always been reliable for me. I've fired 1000's of it thru hundreds of rifles. 150gr sp, hunting ammo.
Using this ammo was necessary back in the old days when I was a m14 smith hehehe , simply for liabilty reasons.

And yes, everyone, don't use federal's cheap american eagle in your semi. There is actually a written warning/disclaimer on federal's site.
Haven't tried any of the newer import norc ammo, but the copper washed green box stuff I have from a few years back shoots very well in my experience.

Both of my M305 one with a 22" and 18.5" barrel love Barnaul 150gr 7.62x51mm. No issues at all all fed and fired. Can't say for accuracy because I haven't tried yet I had some American Eagle but upon inspection of the brass they where dinged and bulged near the bottom of the case. So I don't shoot AE any more. MFS shot ok but really dirty.

That's pretty much what I've shot with my M305s.

i let loose 3 boxes of pmc sierra match hollow points , getting 5 shot groups around 1 75 - 2 inches best ive ever pulled off , prior to those 2+ inches with federal 5 shot groups , 3+inches winchester white box fmj those are junk , better grouping with norc ammo , my best was 1.5 inches 5 shot group with nosler 165 grain bt but i had too take a second mortgage to buy em haha ,

Have been shooting this stuff lately. Bit less accuracy than the Fed blue box 150 gr I was shooting before but it seems to be reliable and cheap. I don't worry about it being dirty as I clean my rifle every time I shoot it anyways.

Anyone using MFS?

My M-14s likes Federal blue box 150 grainers for plinking. I can average around 2 MOA off a stable platform with it. But the most accurate groups I've shot have been with Winchester Supreme 168 grain, get consistent 1.5 MOA, some groups almost down to 1 MOA.
