I've bought the Hornady Custom 170 and Federal Power-Shok 170. Haven't shot them yet, I'll have them out at the range as soon as my marlin arrives..

I'm looking into other ammo such as LeverEvolution 160 and Federal Fusion 170. Looks like the fusions are the hardest hitting just under the leverevolutions, and are about $10 cheaper per 20 pack.

What does your marlin like? What ammo do you have experience with and like? Try the fusions?

Here's a link I read about the leverevolutions, but made me interested in fusions;

My Marlin is a 1957 or 1958 336A w/ 24" barrel. It is very accurate with factory Leverevolution 160-grain, Federal 170-grain or Winchester 150 PowerPoint and shot 170 Silvertips decently too.
Its favourite handloads are 160 FTX Leverevolution bullets or 150-grain Speer FP's with max loads of Reloder 15 powder. Best groups have been about 1.25 inches for three shots at 100 yards.

This tells you nothing, my Winchester 94's like the same handloads.

200 gr Remington Core-Lokts, but my 336 is chambered in 35 Remington. You never specified what caliber.:) The leverevolution rounds seem to bind up in my magazine tube, which I read elsewhere is a problem others have had.

I seem to have good luck with the Remington Core-Lokts my firearms which I've tried them in. They group well, they're consistent, and in .30-30, the price at my LGS can't be beat @ $18.99/box. I have an old Mossberg 472PCA that seems to love them.

Just loaded a few difference specimens.
New to me 336RC in 35 Remington.
Just for pewps and giggles, I loaded up 20 rounds
of 180 grain SSPB pointy bullets.
Bought them at the Salmon Arm gun show for the BLR81
and found out they need to be under 2400 fps for proper expansion.
So, one at a time out at the H's range coming up......hopefully soon.
The umph is IMR 4320 at 38.5grs.
Going to be interesting how they wander down the range.
And once the scope is sighted in, going to send down
the same powder charge with 200 grn round nose Hornady's.
If I don't too badly, I'll post some targets.
Would love to trade this M8 4X for a M8 6X.

the old 1949rc 30-30 likes just plain old 170gr power points, the 1959rc 35 rem likes the 200gr rems niether seems to like to cycle the hornady ammo that well.
