Hey everyone,

I stopped shooting IPSC about 10/13 years ago when i started breeding, and ive got a bit more time on my hands these days.
Im quite familiar with the local IPSC scene around here as far as pistol shooting goes, but not revolvers.

Im easily within driving distance to London, Toronto... (kinda located between them). Are there active revolver IPSC shoots around here? What about IDPA or PPC?

I have not done a thing with my black badge in all of these years, would it still be "valid" (i dont know if i could even find it)? Or would i need to re-take the course?

Lastly, what are the revolvers used in these shoots? It seems to me that mostly you're looking at 45 acp and 38special... do they get worked up the same as 1911's do for the sport? Im guessing getting back into a full rig is going to be about the same price for a revolver as a 1911 type set up?

Lots of questions, thanks in advance for any replies!

BRRC has plenty of wheelgun shooters both in IPSC and PPC. IPSC even has dedicated revolver nights. I think you need to compete in a couple of matches per year just to maintain your status, but you'd be better off posting on the IPSC-Ont forum.

There was a group at Sharon trying to organize revolver matches based on ICORE framework. Not sure what's happening at this time.

As far as your BB goes, best to contact the BB Coordinator to discuss. Recert requirements are listed on the IPSC Ontario webpage under Black Badge Courses. blackbadge@ipsc-ont.org

As it been said, Burlington club runs Revolver IPSC night every first Tuesday of the month. It is open to all IPSC members.
On regular IPSC matches there are 3..5 shooters who are running revolvers regularly, but not at the same matches, so you'll see 1..3 revolver shooters at most. You'll also see a few revolver shooters at the matches across the border in Detroit.

Most popular in IPSC are 625 in 45acp or 45gap and several variants of 38spl or 38short colt chambered revolvers.

I have 625 (6 rounder), as well as 627 re-chambered in 9mm and also 929 in 9mm (both are 8-rounders and compliant with USPSA Revolver and ICORE Limited divisions).

Alfa Proj revolvers in 9mm - 9251, 9251C and 9261 are also an option, but those won't be as fast to reload as 625 or 627 and moon-clips are hard to get for those.
