When you buy a new rifle (from dealer) do any of you take into consideration the date of manufacture? Sometimes a rifle could have been sitting there for 2 years or maybe more. Lets say this is a rifle that has had no changes done to them in that time period.

Absolutely, I would hate to buy a new marlin that was built and been sitting in the box since 2014,
Or an fx-9 with the slit in the bolt exposing the firing pin

I'd rather buy a "new" rifle sitting in the box and properly stored for 50 yrs., than a 2020 model.

'Cause they don't make 'em like they used to.

The best shotgun I ever bought was a new in the box Model 12 that had been sitting in the back of a small-town Saskatchewan hardware store for 20 years. Compared to the POS Model 1200 Winchester was marketing at the time it was a jewel.

Well, old rifles are nicer generally with more feel, but truthfully they can't compare to modern CNC machining. So tolerances have gotten a lot tighter for less money.
