When loading my SKS...

[EL34/6L6]

...with a tapco mag (empty), the bolt must be in the open position. Check.
The mag clicks in place and sits fine. Check.
The bolt remains open(?) When I pull the bolt back it is blocked by the bolt catch inside the action.
I know I can depress the catch, and slide the bolt forward.

But my question is; when a loaded mag is inserted, will the catch recognize that and release the bolt when I charge the bolt in order to feed a round into the chamber?

haha, yes the bolt catch won't be activated by the mag when it's loaded, only on empty will the magazine activate the bolt catch.
Commonly called last shot bolt hold open.
Not a very catchy name.

Simple question I know, but it's a new rifle and I only just recently caught the SKS fever.
