I know nothing about shotshells.

So where are the good deals on shotshells? I'm looking for Skeet / Trap loads. That would be 7.5 or 8, 1 oz. loads.

Flats of 250. locally in the GTA please.

Thanks Muchly

I think the $45 days are over.. I paid that about 2 years ago. but haven't bought since. I'm sure they've gone up like everything else has.

I saw a bunch in 'wallyworld' for 3.40 a box 6-71/2 shot...But that was in the US....Not just a different country but semmingly a different planet:p

All I can find is 12ga with 1oz #8 shot.

So I guess 1oz #8 would be a good buy then. It would suit my needs pefectly.

Make sure my pattern is correct with this load and head on out :)

The larger shot(7 1/2) is not normally used in skeet, most use 8-9 for skeet as shots are close. You can legally use from 7 1/2 to #9, and up to 1 1/8 oz.

anywho.. I picked up 2 flats of Remingtons Game Load 2 3/4 1OZ #8 shot.

Seems like the best choice for skeet.....and trap?... $42 a flat that was a nice plus.

Bump...

Shooting time again. And a work buddy just picked up a nice 870.
Time to buy a shopping buggy full of flats again.

Anyone have a good line on who has the better pricing around southern ontario?
(this would be just *fun* shells, so any $40ish flat would be good :)...)

12ga. 2 3/4 - 3.5" .... 7 1/2 , 8 or 9 shot.

Thanks again.

Went a bass pro... $54 and $62 for a flat is not what I call a good deal.
They had a Promo on 20Ga for $42... but who has a 20Ga??

20Ga is a huge skeet gun... popular.

Oh and for a while Epps had a flat for $50 or $55, but I dont remember the load.

Ha ha ha ha ha ... $40 a flat, that would be last years price. Try around $60 this year. You might be able to find some around the $50 to $55 range.

Also check the club you might be shooting at. The CFO has restricted some ranges at various clubs to #9 shot.

Really would like to know how many shells are in a flat.

Right now I am buying that cheap.. well not getting any cheaper, 100 round box from crapola tire. Would like some better quality stuff for small game this fall. But not the little 25 round boxes.

FM shooting in Guelph. A really good guy, but you'd probably have to contact him directly and pick them up in Guelph. I last paid him I think ~50+tax for a flat - that's real Federal target loads, not Remington's cheapest at BP there is a real difference. If that's close enough to GTA for you, PM me and I'll send you all the info off his business card.

250 in a flat

250 (10 boxes of 25) in a "flat"

I remember as a kid going to "Gordons sporting goods" on Hillside ave. in Victoria and watching my father pick up 500 rd. wooden dovetailed boxes of C.I.L. Canuck ammo....those were the days.

I just reload my scatter gun ammo with reclaim shot. Been doing it for almost 20 years and never had a issue with rocks or the odd piece of steel shot scratching my bores (100,000 rds. and counting) Breaks them at the skeet field and 16 yd. line as good as the "store bought stuff". Using a cheap powder like Promo and a 1oz shot charge you can do it for about $30 a flat.
