where are the winchester 375 safaris?

I ordered one last year in 375 H&H and its still "on its way" nobody from the store knows exactly when any Winchesters will arrive from the states. I heard that the new ones have been shipped back to the states after oversea's assembly but that is hear-say. I found one on the EE and bought it as quick as I could, now I'm waiting on that to show up too. I have seen a 458 at a gun show for a few hundred more than what the normal price is. Funny how those gun show groupies think there used guns are worth more than new ones, and they get insulted when you bring them back to reality about their prices. The last I was told about the M70 I ordered was possibly a two year wait.
 
A 2 year wait at a price yet to be determined or pay for one used for what they ask....I guess it depends on how badly you want one.

And your point is?:p Actually my M70 .375 is an Alaskan. The .458 is a Safari Express. Each is a suitable weight for the cartridge, a .375 really doesn't need to much over 8 pounds all in. I can see using this lighter version more on this continent than its 10 pound plus cousins. Things seem different when you carry it for a week and shoot it once than when you crack a couple animals a day.
 
I ordered one on January 2nd and am still waiting for it. Winchester had said at the time there were some (I don't remember how many) backordered and that the lead time would be possibly 6 weeks. I figured it would be a few more on top of that to get to Canada but its been 21 weeks now :confused:

I remember seeing them in the LeBaron's catalog a week or so after paying the deposit, but I didn't cancel my order and get one of those because a) I'm not in a rush and b) its nice to spread out the payments. It was the new model number, too.
 
OP - did you end up finding the rifle in stock anywhere?

I called Winchester today to ask about the production status of them (model number 535204161) and they told me the earliest shipment will be in September, followed by shipments in October and November (might've been December, but I was a little pissed off by that point so I wasn't really paying attention).

This was after checking with Wolverine (I ordered through them) and LeBaron. Wolverine's distributor's system is showing the max eta of 180 days and LeBaron hadn't received the rifles yet.

Winchester should offer the M70 Safari Express in .375H&H, .416RM, .416Rigby, .458WM and .458Lott... imhgo.

They are the best value going, in a big game rifle. The 'Corvette' of hunting rifles, if you will.

I don't think you can shoe-horn the Rigby into a M70, but the rest have been done. The Lott only through the custom shop though.

I've got a Lott reamer, mag box and follower all ready to convert my .458 Win over after my next trip.

keep it as a 458 win mag your very soon trip will confirm it ...
 
Probably, but without the other to compare it to........................................................... Besides, there no law against going back to the Win Mag if the Lott doesn't prove to be worth the buck and roar. The Wins fire in the Lott chamber, but of course you already know that.

Besides; I already know what the Win will do. The rest is just a science project on my way to a .500.
 
With the looong waits for new FN/Winchester's to arrive in Canada, those......"those gun show groupies think there used guns are worth more than new ones, and they get insulted when you bring them back to reality about their prices".... don't look so bad after all. If I saw one like-new-in-the-box with only a couple rounds through it I'd grab it, especially if it were a new phantom .300 H+H Super-Grade.

Yup. I'm going to hold onto my order but if I see one that doesn't look too bad I'm probably going to jump on it. I always heard that lots of people buy a .375 (for example), go to Africa, then dump the gun when they come back.
