Where can a guy get a M44 and what do they cost? Never seen one for sale.

Check the EE often, there has been alot of them popping up lately. Westrifle is working on bringing some M44s and M38s in but the ETA and price is still TBA. Al mentioned they will be pricey. A good M44 on the EE goes for anywhere from $250 for fair condition or bubba'd (some idiots like to remove the bayonet and grind off the lug) to $450 for a minty polish or bubba'd sporter. Go for the polish in that price range, the bubba'd POS M44s are worth $150 tops to me...

There was one at the Burnaby gun, last weekend, for $700.

I wanted to take a picture for everybody to laugh but decided against it.

they show up on the ee now and then. west rifle is importing a bunch unissued for $500ish. I bought my hungarian at an auction.

HA, I saw that one too at the November show, the $700 "unissued unfired Polish M44". That's the same guy who has the Bubba'd P14 for $450...There was another older gentleman who was selling an unmatched Polish M44 in good shape for $275 OBO, that seemed more reasonable.

The guy that had the uber priced M44 had the same one priced at $900 for the previous two shows. I tried to tell him that the going rate is closer to $350 but his was very special to him. His partner on the same rack, an older gentleman, had a sported and very banged up #4 Enfield. It took him quite a while to come up with a price. When he finally marked it, he was asking $350. Really? I was going to offer 125 but walked away.

I've got three, including one built on a hex receiver. You can't have any. :) Be diligent in searching, you'll find what you're looking for eventually.

Go to gunshows only with the hope of finding a deal but be prepared to walk away empty handed when you cant find one among all the overpriced stuff. They are now mostly a breeding ground for greed and price gouging, targeting the uninformed gun enthusiasts, and nailing them right between the eyes. Ive seen enough of that crap and no longer get excited over gunshows. Keep scouring the EE and even post a WTB ad, someone somewhere has what you want for a fair price or even a steal. You'll be surprised what a WTB ad can bring you.
