Does anyone know of a retail outlet in Alberta, preferrably with mail order, that stocks the Kent Gamebore 2 1/2" Pure Gold or Traditional Game shells? Are there any other fairly low pressure 2 1/2" brands sold in Alberta? I recently picked up an English made H.E. Akrill sidelock nitro proofed for 1 1/8 oz. 2 1/2" shells that is begging to go on a grouse hunt. Thank you.

Well, let's not keep the old girl waiting.:D I believe the name of the shop where I got mine was "Pro Line" Shooters in Calgary.

I found this number on the internet - (403)265-6666 - don't know if it's current. They're in the Inglewood area.

Cheers,

2 1/2" shells

Straightshooter, I tried Pro Line and they're sold out. They've been waiting for a month for their order.

Thanks Bangup, I'll give Kent a call. They were very helpfull when I was looking for some 2 1/2" 20 guage shells a few months ago. The problem is that no one seems to have any 12 guage in stock. It surprises me that more retail outfits don't carry these shells as a stock item. There certainly appears to be a market for them out there.

i don't mean to be flippant but...why not reload your own 2 1/2" shells....if you find factory ones they will be expensive and intermittant in supply! 2 1/2" shells are easy to reload as you cut down 2 3/4" hulls....all reloading can be done by hand(without reloading machine)....smokeless or black powder !! I've been reloading them with black powder for years and they are better than the Kents!

That sounds like good advice, Ben. With the trouble I've had finding factory loads I may start reloading my own this winter. I want to get some 2 1/2 hulls first. I talked to Kent Gamebore and they had plenty of shells in stock, just nobody had ordered them. I called Russel Sports in Calgary and they are ordering me a case of the Gamebore Pure Gold shells. With the cost of the shells and about another $30 per case for shipping it would certainly be cheaper to load my own. I didn't know that you could reload them by hand, though it makes perfect sense. I also have a Westley Richards with damascus barrels that I would like to try with some black powder loads if the barrels are in proof.

If you are serious you should order 2 items from Prec. Reloading or Bal. Prod. in the U.S....One is a little tool to cut hulls down to whatever length you want and another small tool to use in your drill or better still drill press to roll crimp and provide wad pressure at the same time....both tools will last forever....I saw a picture of their cutting tool and made my own out of wood and exacto-blades!
