The title says it all.
I have been getting some light strikes with my CZ Shadow (13lb main and 11lb recoil springs) when using Remington primers.
With CZ factory loads there is no problem but I would like reliability with all primers.

Is there a vendor that has the extended firing pin available (and in stock)?

Do the light strike cartridges fire on the next strike?

Bob

The official answer is that they all get tossed in the 'misfire box' after waiting 30 seconds with muzzle direction mainted on target.

The Remington primers are known to be quite a bit harder than even CCI, so the light strikes aren't surprising. But I want to make sure that my Shadow can fire anything (just in case), so I'd like to swap in an extended pin to match the lighter springs being used.

Well if the unofficial answer is they fire on the 2nd strike I suggest you make sure your primers are fully seated before spending money you don't have to. I run all my CZ's with 13# springs and use Tula primers with no issues. A primer not fully seated can and will get fully seated with a primer strike leaving a small dimple on the primer. On the 2nd strike the cartridge will fire. I always figured Tulas were hard and CCI as hard as any. I never have had a moments problem with Remington primers...ever. Something to digest.

Thank you.
The primers are being seated using a RCBS handprimer with a full press on the handle.
I actually have been tossing the rounds in to the bin rather than trying a second press. I'll have to try it out next time I can.

Can you measure the length of your FP and post it here? I have what are supposed to be extended FPs but when I went to install them in my Shadow they seemed to be the same length as factory. If you can confirm yours is shorter than what I have, I could sell you one.

Best test is to try firing them a 2nd time. You might also note the brand. I don't reload S&B brass due to their crimp over the primer pocket. I find the pockets way to tight which will cause high primers for sure or at the very least difficulty in seating them.

Interesting.
I am reloading S&B brass and haven't noticed any issue with high primers.
The pocket seems a little tighter but the primers do go in and I find that they seat a little deep.
