I am looking for loose shot for reloading shells for duck hunting. I have used steel and have found it lacking for where I hunt:( . Are there any supliers that carry Bismuth or Tungsten?

Bismuth can be purchased from Precision Reloading or Ballistic Products in the USA $95/7lbUS.....One of these outfits has a Canadian Dist. in Alta.....you will have to check their websites unless someone else here knows. I don't know the markup on this?

With the cost of bismuth shot the savings between handloading and buying loaded shells is not that great. If you find some inexpensive bismuth or tungsten matrix shells, they can even be cheaper than the shot itself.

Note if you load tungsten iron then you need thick walled wads since the tungsten is harder than barrel steel.

A 7 lb container of bismuth is from $130 to $160 CDN (Epps is $160) and you only get 69 - 1 5/8 oz reloads out of it. The cost of the shot alone is about $2 per shell. But your mileage can vary. ;)

I load 1 1/4oz. of bismuth shot in 2 3/4" cases bufferred and roll crimped and I believe they are more effective than any steel load...I think I get 85 shells from 7lbs....still cheaper than factory bismuth or tungsten matrix.
