something entry level for a fullbore target rifle. Saw a couple sportco's in the EE forum but keep hereing of rifles around the 500$ range for a starter. Any info would be appreciated.

Sportco's usually run around $500 or so. If it came with sights that would sweeten the deal. Rear sights alone for a target rifle start at about $200 and go up to around $400+.
If you are hearing about an entry level TR for $500 there is a good chance the barrel could be shot-out.
The ORA has been putting together Rem 700 VLS rifle for entry level TR.
By the time you spend $800 on a rifle the get the rail and sights put on, you are looking at about $1200 complete.
