I have a bsa monarch in 308 . that needs rebarrelinglent it to a freind for hunting and gave him some corrosive rounds for practice , it didnt get cleaned until i got it back.:( i was told that a parker hale might fit by a member when i posted on the ee. any info would be a great help .:)

The PH will have an identical taper and thread, just needs to be headspaced. Why not just pick up a barrel from your local gunsmith and get him to put one on. He probably has a couple of blank 30 cal bbls around or maybe even a new take off. You may be able to pick up a bbl on the Parts and Bits forum in the equipment exchange forums. Anything with the mauser 98 thread will work as well, but again needs to be headspaced to your bolt. bearhunter

I'm surprised to hear about corrosive 308 - since its a post fifties vintage cartridge. Are you sure its corrosive? What source? Are you sure its corrosion in the bore and not just fouling?

the bore was quite rusted. the ammunition i got from a buddy who inherited the ammo from his grandfather who was in the military probably during the late 50s early 60s. they were all on stripper clips , not stamped 308 either i have no idea what the origin of the ammo was. i assumed military surplus.
