where can I get this in canada?

I've been looking into this myself, and so far have only found the Volquartsen parts (barrels and new bolts) on Milarm's site. The most economical way to go would be the eabco.com barrel and heavy bolt handle kits which start at $180US, but I haven't found anyone who imports them.

if you can find one in .22mag........ I think the .17 barrel will work on it... that said I think there will be feeding issues...... I would just try to find a 10/22 chambered for .17 and then buy a heavy barrel........ If you can find one, they stopped making them!!

If I am not mistaken you are trying to convert a .22lr to a .17hmr????? right?

I shudder to think of the work involved with that!

ya .22lr to .17hm2

the idea seems neat I could have both setups with the same 10/22 receiver all you need to do is swap out the barrel and charging handle for each caliber.

its just too bad no one in Canada sells these !!

I have built one from a long time ago it definately has more punch. Have not shot it enough to tell accuracy. stainless barrel with a twist machined look, on a blue barracuda stock I think. it is a thumbhole anyways.

This is news to me, so just swap out the barrel and bolt? Is that all? All the other components of the receiver are the same?

Although, to me, conversion kits are sometimes a waste, you can usually buy a whole other firearm in the caliber you want for the same price.

barrel, bolt handle and new recoil spring. I have never tried a high capacity magazine just the factory 10 round, and it feeds great.
it only take minutes to convert it over.. but cost more than the rifle. mine is an er shaw stainless barrel with the twist.. looks sharp

Correct me if I'm wrong, but... I've read that the whole purpose of .17 was to shoot it in anything .22, as long as the barrel on the said firearm was replaced and made for .17... That was the whole purpose of commercializing this caliber: more accuracy and not having to break the bank to shoot it with your current .22LR firearms.

Unless there are other issues I'm not aware of, I believe that simply changing the barrel should do it. The .17 is supposed to feed from any .22LR magazine and work with any .22LR bolt (as the casing is of the same dimensions as a standard .22).

Due to the amount and type of powder and the pressure curve there needs to be more bolt mass in a semi auto. Volquartsen makes an entire bolt for this purpose, but a heavier bolt handle and spring will work also.

P&D (see banner ad above! Good folks!) had a 17m2 conversion set in stock when I was in there a couple weeks back. Barrel, oversized bolt knob (looked good, black) and recoil spring/guide rod assy.

Was somewhere north of $400 IIRC. Call them and ask, if you gotta know for sure.

IIRC it was a carbon wrapped large dia barrel. Can't recall makers name, just looked at it for a couple seconds.

Cheers
