A flashlight that is. I'm thinking about mouting a flashlight but I don't know where. The 14" barrel limits my options for barrel clamp mounts, and I'd really like to keep my wooden forend. I know Tac-Star or ATI makes an adapter that fits in the side saddle but wouldn't that get in the way of the line of sight when you'r aiming? I'm not dead set on it, but it's an idea. Anyone have suggestions?

It is a tacstar universal mount. If you were looking down the barrel the flashlight is at about 10 o'clock. I had to dremel the mount slightly to get the clearance I needed between the barrel and the forend/mag tube. I also had to remove some material from the forend. The back of the mount is 3" from the muzzle so maybe you could even put yours out in front of the mag tube?
 
you could do it properly and mount a Fab Defense forend like this:

there are clones of the Fab forend on ebay that are half the price if you are on a budget.

the little rail that mounts under the mag cap is a weak solution IMO.
 
Maybe something like this?

It's a LiteMount Technologies shotgun mount on a Wilson Combat 1 round extension and an SF E2e light.

I'm looking for an E1e body to switch over to the same Valiant Devices head with an M60 Malkoff Devices 235 Lumens LED lamp as you see on the 18". The E2e is a bit too long on a 14".

The problem I had with the SF lamp is the battery's positive terminal was getting beat up against the back of the incandescent lamp. So I switched over to an LED Malkoff lamp that has a spring like the P series of SF lamps.

It's all VERY solid and works really well for me.

I have an 870 and tried to find a mount that attached to the tube extension. Never did find one that fit well. Both I tried did not stand up to the vibration from shooting. I was just gonna buy a forend with a light mount

However

Easy that one looks pretty solid..... does it hold up well?

Absolutely. Like I said, the Malkoff conversion to LED with a spring behind the lamp, it isn't going to pop any bulbs or batteries now.

The mount is very solid and you can mount the E2e/E1e at the bezel as it's 1" in diameter, or behind the bezel on the body. The latter needs a bit of McGyvering with a proper sized seal for better retention, but works just as well the way I affixed it.

The mount is made of a solid chunk of aluminum as a one piece BTW, with allen screws to tighten it all together. I like that the mount becomes part of the extension. It doesn't weigh down the fore-end cycling.

You just have to be careful not to whack your thumb into the back of the light while cycling the next shell.

a shame they didnt combine that mount into a mount+clamp/sling loop. kindof silly to have to have both that and a clamp on an extended mag.

btw that looks awesome with the +1 mag extension. sneaking the sling plate adapter behind it like you did is even better.
 
I know its not much help because I can't recall the manufacturer, but there is one company that sells a flashlight mount that fits into one of the shell holders on the side saddle. That way you can meep your wooden furniture.

I've never used it, so I can't comment on what its like, but I don't know if I'd want that that much ambient light right in front of my face while I was firing at night/low light.

It's tacstar. I think that it would get in the way of your line of sight. Also it looks like it would make it difficult to remove the rounds from the saddle.

I did some looking tonight and I think I may be able to fit a thin mount between the magazine cap and barrel. I could then mount the light without a mag extension. I like the way the gun is with out the extension and I'm not sure how long I'll want the light on there. So that may be my best option until I'm dead sure I want a light. If I'm satisfied I can work from there.
