When I got my PAL I used my parents address because that was what was on my ID. The PAL card doesnt have an address on it so as long as I give my current address when I buy a gun can I keep it at my current address or do I have to have the CFO and get my address changed according to them?

you have to tell the cfo where you are storing the guns, if thats at your parents house then that address works, if its where you are then you give them your address

The address that you have stated for your PAL/RPAL must be the address to the gunz. They are for registration, not confiscation.Remember.
...lol..IBL..

rpal.

I guess my question is; Do I need to call the CFO to change my address or will the address they take down when I buy a gun become the address that firearm is expected to reside at?

Your restricted is stored at your residence. They will use the address on file listed on your R- PAL...That is the only place the restricted can be stored.

If you move the restricted you require an ATT..REASON MOVING NEW ADDRESS..plus ONE for your club use.

You have 30 days to change your address on your PAL. But the restricted really is RFN with an ATT allowing you to move it.

You can't just take it to one address then another. Unless you have an ATT for your club or other clubs and are attending at the other range as a guest.

This is a very simple explanation.

I just went through this so I speak from experience.

Restricted firearms must be stored at your primary residence by default. They can be stored at another location but the CFO must be notified.

If the location they are stored at is a residence (as opposed to a storage facility) the residence owner must have an RPAL or you both have to complete and sign a form stating that the firearms will be secured in a safe or my means of trigger locks and that the RPAL holder is the only person that has access to the keys.

These forms have to be submitted to the RCMP. It takes one to two weeks to process and if approved they will then they will send you an ATT to move the firearms to the new location.

Email me if you want the forms.

Why not do it the right way and fix your addres on all your docs?
Do you want to take any chances?
A police officer may interpret the law the wrong way or he may not even know it.
By the time they drop charges you already spent a few thousand dollars in lawyers fees.

Its convenient to be able to store my guns at 2 locations, which apparently I can do without a problem for anything unrestricted.

I've found a specific squirt gun that are being sold at my local Good Will store and I want to find where they're getting them so I can buy a large quantity of them. The "brand" name on the cardboard bag top says "Fei lun pai", but no results come back when I do a search in Google. Thanks for your time!

Non-restricted can be stored anywhere in Canada, as long as you comply with the safe storage regulations. I always found it funny that the authorities were keen to capture the address where you would be storing the firearms as the address for your licence, despite the lack of a legal requirement to store non-restricted firearms at any particular place.

Yes, even with someone who doesn't have a rpal or pal as long as they are stored properly. Locked container would be most appropriate.

There's a difference between storing the firearms legally and storing them so that someone who doesn't have a licence will not be charged with being in possession of them without a licence. Basically, you have to go with locked cases that unlicenced people cannot open if you're going to leave them in a dwelling with the firearm.

Some day I am going to hassle the CFC and see what their thoughts about moving into an RV and going nomadic with restricteds are...

Should be interesting, as your PAL residence will be a P.O. Box. There is no law in Canada requiring you to have a fixed address, so somehow, they will need to find a way to accommodate you.
