Where can I test fire a Glock 26 and a Glock 19?

Hi All,

I am looking for my first gun and I have narrowed my decision down to either the Glock 26 or the Glock 19. Both are legal (restricted) in Canada with the use of a 106mm aftermarket Bar-Sto barrel.

I have been told the best way to decide between these two guns is to test fire them, but I have no idea where to do that. Any Ideas? I am located in London Ontario but would certainly travel to do this.

Any prohib is leagal if you rebarrel it, the problem is finding one thats been rebarreled, because you can't buy it and do it yourself unless you have 12-6. And when you do, you have to hand in the original barrel, so now you have a glock with a shinny pipe sticking out the front. So why not just by the normal one?

(the little ones are cool {for glocks} but we can't carry so whats the point?)

Right now it is mostly the "cool" factor. Though there is a possibility I may be moving to the US when I finish school so I may even be able to carry in a couple of years.

Plus I'd rather have one and be "grandfathered" if the laws change.

Just shoot a Glock that's the same caliber but the next size up, grip size/weight shouldn't differ that much.

You got to find someone here that can take you to the range or someone that you know that has one of those.

IMO G26 looks funny with a long barrel.

Go for the 19. It's a bit smaller and therefore feels better than the full size 17; yet its still big enough to both be a good range gun and not look too bad with an extended barrel. You would probably get bored with the 26 long before you would the 19.

Take a look in the events section and you will see that EESA in Aylmer is having an open house on the 10th and 11th. You could post in that thread to ask if anyone will be bringing one.

Or you could buy one from Questar, "over the counter" and ready to roll. If the smaller frame fits your hand better there's a good chance you'll shoot the smaller gun better than the full sized one too. Also, any gun with a Bar-Sto barrel is worth shooting - there's a reason all those people pay extra for one.

Gronski,

If the laws change, then they will not prohibit handguns based on length of the slide. It will be barrel length, in which case it will not matter what gun you get so long as the barrel is 106mm.

The Glock 26 is TINY and the extended barrel ruins the look of the pistol IMHO. That said, we do what we have to in order to own one.

I would get a Glock 19 as the barrel will only extend 5mm or so, and also because it is a MUCH more comfortable pistol to shoot. That said, I would rather go for a Glock 17.

If you do move to the USA you will soon find that importing a normal pistol such as a Glock - with the paperwork, taxes (where applicable) and other expenses - will not justify it. There you could buy a non-bastardised Glock 26 for $400.

So I would go for a Glock 17, or if you must have a smaller Glock, the 19.

gronski,

I hope you are able to locate someone that can help you with your trial of these two fine guns. I much prefer the G19 to the G17...and I am told by others that the G26 is a dream to shoot. I'm sure you have already seen pictures of both of these pistols with their restricted length barrels installed, so I certainly understand why you would desire test firing one of them before plunking down all that cash for one.

Best wishes, Jeff/1911.

Glock 19. Longer sight radius, longer grip, etc. The Glock 26 is not a target gun, long barrel or not. Even for concealed carry I would prefer the 19 over the 26, the 19 isn't that hard to conceal really, the 26 was more of a way of Glock giving the finger to Clinton over the AW ban, it would never have been made without that law.

I actually tend to prefer the Glock 19 over the Glock 17 for target shooting, because the trigger reach on the 17 is too short for me. The 19 is not just a 17 with a shorter grip, the bulge on the back is higher up on the smaller guns, and this affects the trigger reach.
