So in the near future I'll be making my first handgun purchase. But the thing is I have zero experience with handguns and I'm worried about purchasing what seems like a great gun and end up not liking it. So I wanted to ask if there's any place in Southern Ontario I can try out a variety of handguns? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Aiden

A lot of the the bigger gun stores that sell guns and have ranges have rental guns, in your are ,I don't know.
Most shooters will let you try out there guns ,if you ask them.
If you shoot lots , offer to pay for the ammo, A couple mags worth, I don't worry about it at all.
A young lady cane with her husband/ boy friend and he was shooting a 9mm, and I asked her if she had ever shot a revolver, and she had not shot anything.
So I let here shoot my S-w 38 and after a bit of coaching she shot the black out of a slow fire target, you should have seen the smiles, from her and the fellow.
She wanted the smith, but as it as a 4 in, that would not work for her.

Guys/girls at the range are very helpful and generous. You can also try urban tactical in Brantford, I think they offer some kind of trial package (but I've never been there so I can't say what it's like)

Colby Shooting Club in Waterloo is close to you. Shooter's Choice is the gun store attached to the range.
I've seen employees from the store give people introductory sessions in the range using a variety of handguns.
Call Shooter's Choice and ask if they still do those introductory sessions. The range is out of commission right now for upgrades and repairs. It should be open again on August 20.

The guys at Select Shooting are putting on a shooting event in mid-September that will probably help you out.

The event is at the gun club near Woodstock - the Oxford Fish and Game. From their website:

We are hosting our 4th Annual Range Day at the Oxford Fish & Game Association in Woodstock, Ontario on Saturday September 14th from 10am to 4pm.

This is a fully supervised event and as such no license required.

The event is supported by Smith & Wesson, Mossberg, Vortex Optics, Radical Firearms, Derya, Canuck and Savage Firearms and provides a great opportunity to try new firearms optics and accessories or simply try shooting for the first time.

Attendance is free however ticket purchase, liability waiver and ID is required if you wish to shoot any of the firearms.

I went last year and it was a very well organized day of shooting - safe, lots of guns, plenty of supervision, and a fabulous shooting facility.

See you there.

If you travel further north drop me a PM. If our timing is right, you can let me know what hand guns you are interested in trying. I have about 60 handguns to chose from but I the last time someone asked, I only took 14 out. Pretty much have a good example of everything from prohibs ppk, lugers to Berettas, Glocks, Sigs, CZs, Margolins, Single and DA revolvers, TC hand cannons, NAA mini's, some .22 targets, some IPSC comp and I even have a couple of Browning 1911-22-380 and a Chiappa Silver Rhino hiding in the back of the vault. Currently I am retired but that might change if I get restless.

Think triggers and bows in burford has shooting days where you can rent or buy tickets to shoot different guns. U can call them or look them up and ask. They have an indoor range
