Where can we find Acid Nitric and Hydrochloric?

Chemical supply stores in most large cities would carry it. They might inquire about the purpose. Dunno how strict they are these days as everyone seems so fearful.

I read that Birchwood Casey's Plum Brown works well for rust bluing. Have not tried it, but I grabbed a bottle, last time I saw some. <shrug> If it works....

Cheers

I think nitric acid is what they also use to make gun cotton .
I use birchwood casey cold blueing it works great I beleive wholesale sports has it .

What recipe are you using? You can probably get pure iron filings too from the above suppliers. (many recipes call for horse nails because they are iron)

Just be really very, very careful. Both of those acids are very powerful and have fumes which will cause you great damage, if not kill you, if you inhale them of get them (the fumes, not just the acid itself) on your skin. You would do well to read about safe handling of them before you get them. Having them, using them and disposing of them, require knowledge that most folks don't have unless they make the effort to find out.

Well, I doubt you can get your hands on Nitric Acid.
Nitric acid (and curiously, Sulfuric Acid) in combination are used to make low-grade explosives, powerful oxidizers or priming compounds. With hightened awareness (read paranoia) of anything "questionable" in today's world, I doubt you can buy it without significant justification.

It may now even be a "controlled" product, much like Ammonium Nitrate fertilizers, etc.

is this only for brown finish or it can make blue as well

I should have mentioned that. Sorry

The Laurel Mtn solution will give a nice black/blue when the part is boiled. I usually go through 5-7 rust-boil-card cycles before I'm satisfied with the results.

A second option for rust bluing solution is a product brewed by a fellow from the Vancouver area. He claims it's a duplicate of the original Swiss Armoury Formula. Anyway, it is a very good product. The thread linked below will give some information on getting some.

As stated take precautions: goggles/face shield, heavy gloves, ventilation. BE VERY CAREFUL ADDING ACID TO WATER. (never water into acid)

Saw this link, he's in Ontario, don't know much about it though...
